"The High School Teacher Who Have the Greatest Positive Influence On Me"
Her face has been painted in the canvass of my perception for almost eighteen years now. Not so beatific I would revere to see always nor the devilish one I would desire to forget. She is natural but with a spell one can’t repudiate. It’s the never-ending love, education, desire and compassion she could provide.
Life in school goes up and down but she never quits. She has maintained the equilibrium, that’s why we are all intact. With the brood of many children in school including me, it is one big wonder how we become what we are right now. Modesty aside, we can say that we are brought up in the right path.
Throughout my life in high school, her warmth has blanketed my frigid moments, hence, melting them, transforming me into an active and a better student ready to face the challenges the future conveys.
When the challenges get tough, she is my foundation of strength. She is there for support though she may not utter a word. She believes in my capabilities, thus, making me believe in myself, too! She builds my confidence as well as my guts to accept my limitations.
She is the best person I know. If you place her in any kind of situation, she can do it: campus journalism, computer literacy, religion, ethics, leadership, algebra, science clubbing and many others! Her wit and wisdom are my sources of intellect and profound happiness. She taught me from simple things to the most complicated ones. That’s the reason why I am well-equipped with the knowledge and skills in my tertiary education indispensable to reach my dreams someday.
She said, “It’s free to dream big! However, if dreams are just dreamed without actions, they will still remain as mere imaginations. Do not just dream it, work for it!” Because of that striking idea, I was inspired to do my best in all the contests I joined. Recently, I won the title as one of the “Ten Outstanding Secondary School Students of the Philippines” sponsored by the Office of the President and the Department of Education.
Well, you may be disgusted because she is not the superwoman you are thinking about. She can’t fly like superheroes do. She does not even have the stones of Darna. All she got is love everyone in this world needs.
Way back during her high school years, she also served as the editor-in-chief of the school publication, elected as president of the student council and a multi-awarded declaimer. Truly, “History repeats itself.”
She is not that powerful, but she can make all things happen.
According to the Webster – Illustrated Contemporary Dictionary, a teacher is defined as the one who gives instruction, trains by example and imparts her knowledge and skills. Indeed, this person satisfies the said characterization.
Wonderwoman? Disregard her. The teacher who gave the most positive influence in my high school life, and even until now is just around the corner – my best friend, my coach, my mentor and my companion – my mother!

She is not Darna; not even the most up-to-date Zsa Zsa Saturna. She is but an ordinary person, yet gifted with the power of superheroes of the century.
